For those unaware of or unclear about their origins, this need for knowledge can arise in adolescence or adulthood when the person decides to create their own home. This type of intervention is always delicate as it is highly personal and can sometimes involve difficult family histories.

When we are contacted by an adopted person, we use the international ISS network to undertake the required research and advise on what steps to take.

In Switzerland, the law permits the identity of biological parents being shared but does not enforce the right to contact them if they do not wish to be contacted.

We act as tactfully as possible in such circumstances to progressively bring both parties together and establish a dialogue between them.
